Artists were invited to respond in any medium to the work of the late, great Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges’ Collected Fictions for this exhibition in July 2025.

‘The Man’ - Inspired by ‘Borges and I’ The Maker 1960: Collected Fictions. In this short story Borges compares himself, the private Jorge Luis Borges, with ‘Borges’ the famous writer. There are in effect two Borgese’s: Borges the man and Borges the writer. Questioning the split between the private self and the public persona. Jorge Luis Borges is the private individual who shares some traits with Borges the famous writer but there are some notable differences between them.

Borges would often walk the city streets - a recognisable yet mysterious suited figure.
